Holiday Road Closure Schedule

The Board of Selectmen approved a list of potential road closures Wednesday night.

At their meeting Wednesday night, the Board of Selectmen approved a list of planned road blocks and street closures associated with some of Marblehead's annual holiday events.

Board members reviewed and unanimously approved a plan submitted by Police Chief Robert Picariello requesting permission for potential road blocks and traffic closures for this year's , and .

Tree Lighting: The annual tree lighting will be held at the 's on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. In the event of an overflow crowd that creates a public safety concern, Picariello is authorized to close either Pleasant Street between School and Spring streets or Essex Street between Atlantic and Pleasant streets.

Santa's Arrival at State Street Landing: Santa is set to arrive by lobster boat on Dec. 3 at about 9:30 a.m. Police will shut down the parking lot at the Philip Clark landing from about 8:30 a.m. until they determine it is safe to re-open.

Christmas Walk 2011: Staging for this year's Christmas Walk Parade will be set up on Front Street between the and State Street. The parade is set to begin at about 10:30 a.m. The parade will require the closure of Front Street between Water and State streets from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and all streets along the parade route will be controlled by local police officers.
