Man Arrested for Throwing Cat Against a Wall

Wednesday, Aug. 8:

  • At 9:42 a.m., police responded to a report of a stolen sewer cover on Essex Street.
  • At 10:34 a.m., a local woman reported finding a wallet on Salem Street.
  • At 10:52 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Harbor Avenue.
  • At 11:00 a.m., a woman on Jersey Street called police to report that a woman in her condo unit was feeding the birds and it was attracting squirrels. The woman was told to contact the Board of Health.
  • At 11:00 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Greystone Road.
  • At 11:18 a.m., a woman called police to report losing a silver locket with her father's ashes in it.
  • At 11:31 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Rose Avenue.
  • At 12:26 p.m., police responded to a report of an intoxicated couple on Pleasant Street.
  • At 1:07 p.m., a resident called police to report losing a wallet on Lighthouse Lane.
  • At 1:21 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Crestwood Road.
  • At 3:42 p.m., police responded to Broughton Road after a resident there called police to report that "his mother's boyfriend threw a cat against a tile wall." Responding officers found an injured cat and arrested Michael J. Urany, 38, of 6 James Ave., Nahant, on charges of assault and battery and cruelty to an animal.
  • At 4:38 p.m., a phone found on Gregory Street was turned over to police.
  • At 4:56 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Rockaway Avenue involving a 1997 GMC Sierra and a 2011 Ford Escape.
  • At 5:09 p.m., a Franklin Street resident called police to report losing a hearing aid.
