5 Things to Do This Weekend

Here are Marblehead Patch's picks for five things to do in town this weekend.

As Christmas draws closer, more and more holiday events are popping up on the Marblehead Patch events calendar. From ballets to concerts, there will be plenty of opportunities to get into the holiday spirit in Marblehead this weekend.

Get in the Holiday Spirit - Be sure to stop by the Gerry 5 Club on Beacon Street Saturday afternoon for the organization's . This event is free, open to the public and scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. There will be a special appearance by Santa himself.

Take in a Show -  The Marblehead and Salem Schools of Music will present “Rock the Holidays,” a student and teacher showcase, featuring everything from classic holiday tunes and pop songs to rock 'n roll at Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Copies of the schools' latest holiday CD compilation “Sounds of the Season 2011” will be on sale. All proceeds from the sale of this disk will go to local charities.

The Nutcracker - You don't have to go all the way to Boston to see The Nutcracker. Dancers from will present the holiday classic at Marblehead PAC Center Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets to the show are $18.

Wine, Cheese and Music - There will be a live performance by tonight at the Sherman Art Studios, located at 112 Washington St. There will be a wine and cheese reception after the performance, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Wrap Presents For a Good Cause - will hold a fundraising event Saturday at the . From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., FOMAA volunteers will be on hand to gift wrap your presents and accept donations for the shelter.
