New Restaurant May Be Coming to Atlantic Avenue

A new Italian restaurant may be coming to Atlantic Avenue.

A new Italian restaurant may be coming to Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead.

The Zoning Board of Appeals will be sitting down with Comella's Restaurants co-owner John Paul Comella next week at a public hearing regarding his desire to reopen the former Moran Studios space as an eatery, according to the posted agenda.

The public hearing is scheduled to be held at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of Abbot Hall.

Comella's is a family-owned restaurant chain with locations in Arlington, Belmont, Chestnut Hill, Concord, Natick, Neeham, Wellesley, West Newton and West Roxbury. Click Here for a look at their menu.

Comella is requesting to "vary the application of the present zoning by-law by allowing a special permit or variance for a change of use from retail to restaurant."

If the special permit is permitted, no external construction is expected at the location and full plans and information are currently available at the Town of Marblehead Engineering Department in the Mary Alley Municipal Building on Widger Road.

What do you think about another Italian restaurant coming to Marblehead? Have you ever been to Comella's before?
