Captn's Bakery Closes, Orchard Bakery Moving In

The former home of Captn's Bakery on Washington Street will soon reopen as Orchard Bakery.

Captn's Bakery has closed up shop and Orchard Bakery is moving in on Washington Street in Marblehead.

A Salem woman and Somerville plan to reopen the space next month and hope to bring the quality pasteries and other breaded treats that gain the attention of the community.

Orchard Bakery should be opening on 146 Washington St. in Marblehead "sometime next month," according to co-owner Keri Thornton.

Thorten, who is a baker and business woman, is starting the shop with experienced pastry chef Rob Fitzhenry, who has many years of working in gourmet shops in New York, Boston and Paris.

"Our vision to bring together our knowledge and passion for baking to Marblehead, offering farm to table pastries, pies, and confections," Thorton said. "We will be using produce and other ingredients from local and regional farms, picked at its peak to be made into the most delicious goodies."
