About Lynch/van
Deeply rooted in the North Shore, the Marblehead/Swampscott YMCA opened its doors to members in 1859. In 2003, the YMCA secured 19.5 acres of land on Leggs Hill Road to build a state-of-the-art facility. More than $14 million was raised over the course of six years. The building opened to the public on December 13th, 2008 and was formally dedicated as the Carolyn and Peter Lynch/Rose-Marie and Eyk van Otterloo YMCA on January 10, 2009.
The Y is a nonprofit like no other. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change.
- The Y is community centered. For nearly 160 years, we’ve been listening and responding to our community.
- The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.
- The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
- The Y has local presence and global reach. We mobilize local communities to effect lasting, meaningful change.
