This is Fort Lee, the only remaining earthworks of Richard Gridley, who is known as the Father of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Federal Government gave this fort to the City of Salem with the stipulation that it be maintained as a park; this is an obligation that has been ignored for decades.
