@justin, I'm really gonna be kind to you because you seem to just not understand things. The business didn't stab anyone so stabbings aren't their violation. Also, stabbings happen in many places. If they happen in front of Dunkin Donuts, you wanna shut down Dunkin Donuts? Wanna shut down downtown Salem where many drunks run into each other after drinking at several establishments? If the ppl all walked down to city hall and fought there, would you shut down city hall?
How many people get arrested when visiting Salem for the month of Halloween? Wanna stop Halloween in Salem?
If there's something, clearly spelled out that Bangkok should be doing, and they're not doing it, ok, fine them, but if they're only guilty of attracting large crowds with some people who can't behave after, then Salem should put some of those new fines they get from the extended meter hours and beef up patrols. Or be very clear as to what Bangkok can do to prevent the situation.

ReplyShutting down a business for any length of time is a serious thing both for the business owner (revenue) and citizens (govt intrusion) and should only occur if there's been serious, provable violations. One girl that drank two beers that only 1 in 4 officers claims to have seen in the establishment, and a crowd, during the busiest/craziest time of the year for Salem, doesn't constitute "out of control"... wait, the term was "getting out of control"... do we need to split hairs?
It's not a club's fault of exiting patrons congregate on a public street. Or have them out up a "no loitering" sign out front, but enough with this "pulling the permit" crap unless you can find a serious, provable offense. We're a free people and govt intrusion better have a real good reason forintruding.... better than the ones presented here.

ReplyI see... so, instead of taking a bipartisan guy who is reasonable, cooperative and willing to reach across the aisle, vote for a partisan ideologue in Warren who will vote with her party 100% of the time, has serious credibility issues and is a one percenter (don't get me wrong, I love the one percent but don't be a hypocrite for cripes sake).

" Congressman John Tierney speaks at annual conference of local professional and business women"
No need to stump for him in the headline

Retired, as well, 45, Alaska round trip $350 the way I do it. Fish for 200lbs of salmon and hunt deer, then shop farmers market for veggies. Life's good.
