ReplySay what you want about ol' Kim, but she know how to shake loose cash for completely fake sounding government programs.

ReplyGood luck preventing it - the horse left the barn 30-40 years ago. Reaping what the welfare state has sown. My advice - move.

Love that. Most afternoons this spring I have had to close my office window thanks to the yelling and fighting of the drunks hanging out at Pickering Wharf. A cop comes by about once a month. I guess when they can spare one from details

Good point - what did he do wrong? Meanwhile homeless set up shop on Pickering Wharf and nothing happens. Not to mention open air drug dealing in the point.

ReplyThe show is crashing and burning. People know it is rigged and leaving in droves. They made it clear about 8 weeks ago they decided that Candice was going to win. The rest was just fake.

ReplyA couple of points - there should be no artificial limit on liquor licenses to boost up the value. Let anyone open and then the free market will decide who stays open based on who provided the best value, food and experience.
The point above is a good one - 43 Church had no unique brand or niche. I think a real French bistro would do fine. Plenty of people from the North Shore come to Salem to dine outside of Halloween season. I went to 43 Church for one last drink on Sat night before they closed. They had a loud and mediocre band playing very loud no more than 3 feet from the bar. You could not hear the person standing right next to you. Completely wrong for the space. No one was listening. I left after 20 mins. It is a great space and someone who knows how to run a restaurant in 2013 will do well.

How about renaming it - Rantoul is a unappealing name - no one really cares who the guy was. Something grand - Beverly Boulevard, The Grand Concourse, Rodeo Drive, 5th Avenue, Mass Ave, Commonwealth Ave, Washington Blvd. 8 Mile
