Year-to-date, the median list price of homes for sale on the North Shore varies widely with the lowest being $180,000 in Lynn and the highest $805,000 in Manchester-By-The-Sea. There is good news year-to-year for unemployment numbers.
Each Wednesday we present a chart highlighting local data on a wide range of topics. This week's chart focuses on the latest local unemployment numbers. The chart is compiled using data from the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Locally, all North Shore communities saw a decrease in unemployment numbers in February compared to February 2011. Communities such as Danvers, Gloucester, Lynnfield, Middleton, Essex and Marblehead saw an increase month-to-month compared to January 2012. *This chart appears on all North Shore Patch sites. The data was provided by the Criminal History Systems Board and reflects 2009 data, the latest available. This week's chart focuses on the number of offenders in each community.
The Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry keeps data on how many level three offenders live, work and go to school in each community. Below is a breakdown per town. Often, there is some overlap in the number of sex offenders working in each town. For instance, an offender can live and work in a certain town and that number would be reflected in both the work and living columns even though it accounts for one person. Wondering what the divorce rate is in your community?
This week's chart focuses on community-by-community divorce rates. While the rates may vary across the state, Massachusetts as a whole, has the lowest divorce rate in the country. This week's chart totals violent crime in the region.
Violent crime is considered any crime in which force is used upon the victim. These crimes include rape, murder, robbery. The data below is courtesy the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The data does not break down what type of crimes were accounted for in each community. Lynn and Salem had the highest total instances of violent crime whereas Essex had the least.

I'm a roofing contractor on the North Shore (http://www.northshoreroofer.com/roofing-north-shore-ma), and in the past year or so we've definitely been witnessing the housing market bouncing back.
