Where Would You Put the Warwick Theater Marquee?

Ever since we announced that Warwick Place's facade would feature a new movie marquee, we've received dozens of email inquiries about the future of the original sign. Here's an update.

When the original marquee was taken down and preserved prior to the demolition of The Warwick in the summer of 2011, those planning the project said they were unsure whether they would refurbish the original or just replace it all-together. On Monday afternoon, Groom Construction Co. co-owner David Groom said the plan to reintroduce the old Warwick marquee to the building was scrapped due to its poor condition. Warwick Place Facade Taking Shape

In case you haven't noticed, the facade at Warwick Place has been coming together over the last few weeks.

Over the next few months, a refurbished Warwick Theater marquee and a large segment of light blue reflective window paneling are expected to be installed. Outdoor Dining Area at Warwick Place Shot Down

A request for an outdoor dining area at Warwick Place was denied Tuesday night.

A request for an outdoor dining area adjacent to the high-end restaurant expected to open on the first floor of Warwick Place sometime next year was narrowly shot down by the Zoning Board of Appeals Tuesday night. The meeting drew a small crowd of abutting residents and business owners to the Selectmen's Meeting Room of Abbot Hall, many of whom were on hand to speak out against the proposed 40-seat outdoor dining area because they feared it would mean loud nights and limited parking. Local attorney Paul Lynch presented the recently-updated building design, which called for changes to the building's facade, and sought to avoid adding three more parking spaces to the rear of the building to accommodate the additional patrons. "When we were …

Having a theater in Marblehead will tie together a destination for the North Shore- Being able to come to Marblehead for the day to sightsee and shop, and then have dinner and a show and dessert has got to do good things for our local economy (Lord knows we need it - look at the storefronts). I remember how pleasant it was to walk to the old Warwick and see a show. We need to see the forest , …   more ›
