Ever since we announced that Warwick Place's facade would feature a new movie marquee, we've received dozens of email inquiries about the future of the original sign. Here's an update.

At a meeting in October, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a request for an overhanging movie sign at Warwick Place that is expected to be a larger replica of the original Warwick Theater marquee. When the original marquee was taken down and preserved prior to the demolition of The Warwick in the summer of 2011, those planning the project said they were unsure whether they would refurbish the original or just replace it all-together. On Monday afternoon, Groom Construction Co. co-owner David Groom said the plan to reintroduce the old Warwick marquee to the building was scrapped due to its poor condition. In case you haven't noticed, the facade at Warwick Place has been coming together over the last few weeks.
As each day passes, the exterior of Warwick Place is looking more and more like this computer rendering of what the finished product is expected to look like. Over the last two weeks, workers have installed the windows along the Pleasant Street side of the 38,000-square-foot office and retail building and have wrapped up the majority of the brick-work. Over the next few months, a refurbished Warwick Theater marquee and a large segment of light blue reflective window paneling are expected to be installed. A request for an outdoor dining area at Warwick Place was denied Tuesday night.
A request for an outdoor dining area adjacent to the high-end restaurant expected to open on the first floor of Warwick Place sometime next year was narrowly shot down by the Zoning Board of Appeals Tuesday night. The meeting drew a small crowd of abutting residents and business owners to the Selectmen's Meeting Room of Abbot Hall, many of whom were on hand to speak out against the proposed 40-seat outdoor dining area because they feared it would mean loud nights and limited parking.
