Karaoke OK'd at Terry's Ice Cream Shop

Terry's Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Shop will now be hosting karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you happen to find yourself at Terry's Ice Cream Shop on a Friday or Saturday night, you can expect to hear some classics being belted out by local singers. At their meeting at Abbot Hall Wednesday night, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved awarding Terry's owner Carlos Rocha an entertainment license so he could host karaoke on Friday and Saturday night. The ice cream parlor, which reopened on Atlantic Avenue last month, has become a regular hang-out for local teens and Rocha said he hoped a karaoke machine would give them something fun and safe to do on the weekends. "It will keep them off the streets, and give them something to do," Rocha said. "That's what this is all about." The motion to award the entertainment license …

Terry's to Re-Open In Town, 5CK To Expand

Terry's Ice Cream owner Carlos Rocha said he was "forced from the building" and will be reopening "very close" to his former location on School Street.

5 Corners Kitchen will be expanding into the space formerly occupied by Terry's Ice Cream Shop and the ice cream parlor's owner is letting residents know he plans on reopening in town. Both businesses were forced to close their doors after an electrical fire in July left the interior of the building with extensive water and smoke damage. Rocha said he will be able to announce next week where he will be reopening. Five Corners Kitchen will be expanding their dining room, building a larger bar area and adding additional seating to their space but management says the feel diners have come to love about the restaurant will remain.
