Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Marblehead. Selectmen Pave the Way for BYOB Licenses in Marblehead

The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved recently-crafted BYOB regulations pertaining to carry-in alcoholic beverage licenses in Marblehead.

Get ready Marblehead, you may soon be able to bring beer and wine along with you when visiting properly-licensed local restaurants, thanks to a decision made by the Board of Selectmen Wednesday night. At their meeting at Abbot Hall, board members unanimously approved the implementation of local BYOB regulations that they've hammered out over the last two months and paved the way for as many as five carry-in alcoholic beverage licenses in town. The need for BYOB regulations was pushed to the forefront in September when Marblehead's new Mexican restaurant on Smith Street, Casa Corona, filed a request for permission to allow patrons to bringing along their own alcohol beverages. Karaoke OK'd at Terry's Ice Cream Shop

Terry's Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Shop will now be hosting karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you happen to find yourself at Terry's Ice Cream Shop on a Friday or Saturday night, you can expect to hear some classics being belted out by local singers. At their meeting at Abbot Hall Wednesday night, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved awarding Terry's owner Carlos Rocha an entertainment license so he could host karaoke on Friday and Saturday night. The ice cream parlor, which reopened on Atlantic Avenue last month, has become a regular hang-out for local teens and Rocha said he hoped a karaoke machine would give them something fun and safe to do on the weekends.
