Here's a look back at some of the comments made by our readers this week.
Marblehead's Best Places to Dine Outside Louise: One does not "Dine" at Java Sun and the "outdoor dining area" for Hungry Betty's is on an ugly narrow walkway overlooking a large parking lot. Yet one of the nicer outdoor dining areas in town, Jack Tar, didn't even make the list. Something smells fishy here... The Kid: For shame Patch for shame. Once again, your lists prove to be poorly concocted. First, you neglected to include Jack-Tar -- it has larger outdoor capacity than the Barnacle or the Landing and better food (although the view is not as appealing as those venues but certainly beats overlooking a strip mall parking lot). Second, you mix apples and organges when you include Java Sun, Lime Rickeys and Coffey Ice Cream. Java Sun has…

Here's a look back at some of the comments made by our readers this week.
Who's to Blame: The School Committee or the Superintendent? Barbara Anderson wrote this: Darn, only the second School Superintendent (statewide!) I've liked, and now he's leaving? I've been serving with him on the Glover School Building Committee (as the taxpayer delegate) and found him easy to work with, very inclusive, interested in transparency and common sense. If Jo Ann doesn't like him, that's another plus :) Also see a big improvement in the School Committee since the last one got along so nicely with the superintendent who helped misspend $5 million from the Village School project. Dr. Maas with Dick Nohelty have made sure that the GSBC knows about and approves every change order. Who are they going to find who can continue …

Here's a look back at what our readers had to say this week.
What Marblehead Businesses Were You Sad to See Close in 2013? Joyce Elliott I think the saddest was the closing of Sweeney's Retreat. Phil served his customers and supported organizations like Rotary for many years. He is a man of honor and integrity, and he and his staff will be missed. Anne Smith Definitely Sweeney's. It was reasonably priced, the food was good, and the staff always made you feel welcome. It's a huge loss to a lot of faithful patrons. No place else in town like it and will be sorely missed. Walter Horan We will miss Sweeney's Retreat. Great fish chowder with a popover and salad for $7.95 served by the friendliest waitstaff. Phil made an effort to ensure all patrons were served well. On the bar side; we will miss the many…

Here's a look back at some of the things our readers had to say this week.
Should Licensed Gun Owners Information Be Public? Azikiel F Mason The West wasn't won with a registered gun. Free the right to bear arms. You're asking for a civil war when you publicize who has the right to bear arms...because then we know who don't. Heidi-Jean F. Rossicone That makes a lot of sense actually. Robert Moser What a good idea. Give criminals the information need to steal guns. How would this serve a legitimate purpose? Joe Whipple Speaking of things that are not well thought out, having an abortion or opinions about gay rights are not matters of public record, so there is no way a citizen or a newspaper can obtain that information from the government. Gerry MacDonald Information on gun owners should not be public as this …

Joe Whipple Good heavens! One marquee or replica is surely enough. Give it back to Tom McNulty, if it won't go back on the building.
