Marblehead Man Charged With 2nd OUI

Salem police arrested a Marblehead man following an accident on Highland Avenue Friday night.

A Marblehead man was arrested and charged with his second drunken driving offense Friday night following an accident on Highland Avenue in Salem. At 10:39 p.m., Salem police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Marlborough Road involving a Toyota Rav4 and a Volkswagen Jetta. John S. Pendleton, 42, of 8 Jefferson St., Marblehead, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense. The accident did not result in any injuries. Pendleton is expected to be arraigned in Salem District Court Monday morning. Marblehead Patch will post additional information as it becomes available.

Police Apply for Technology Funding

The Marblehead Police Department will apply for public safety technology grant funding.

The Marblehead Police Department is looking to secure up to $20,000 in grant funding aimed at better-equipping local officers, Town Administrator Jeff Chelgren said at Wednesday night's meeting of the Board of Selectmen.  "Chief (Bob) Picariello has just made me aware that there is this state grant available for public safety technology, it is a grant for up to $20,000 and the deadline for submittal is Aug. 30," Chelgren said at Abbot Hall Wednesday night. Chelgren went on to say that the goal of the grant is to "supplement the technology of police and fire departments throughout the Commonwealth and to improve overall communications." Woman Linked to Three OUI Crashes Arraigned

A woman charged with leaving the scene of three car accidents in Marblehead Tuesday night was arraigned in court Thursday morning.

A Swampscott woman charged with leaving the scene of three car accidents Tuesday night before being arrested and charged with her second drunken driving offense denied charges in court Thursday morning. Deborah A. Churchill, 54, of 180 Atlantic Ave., Swampscott, pleaded not guilty in Lynn District Court to charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle and three counts of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Local Man Allegedly Hides Overdose Victim

A Marblehead man has been charged with preventing Peabody firefighters from finding an overdose victim and for possessing a slew of drugs in a school zone.

A Marblehead man who allegedly prevented Peabody firefighters from finding a man who had overdosed on cocaine and heroin was ordered held Monday morning on charges of possessing heroin, cocaine, marijuana and pills while in a school zone. Michael A. Cotgageorge, 44, of 26 Mohawk Road, Marblehead, was arrested on charges of interfering with a firefighter, possessing a class A substance (heroin), two counts of possessing a class B substance (cocaine and oxycontin), possessing a class E substance (clonazapam) and possessing a class D substance (marijuana). At 5:33 p.m. Friday, Peabody police responded to a report of a possible drug overdose in an apartment above Buddha's Tavern on Washington Street. Officers reportedly checked each of the …

Driver Involved in Fiery Crash Indentified

The driver who reportedly fled the scene of an accident on Lafayette Street early Friday morning has been identified.

The driver who reportedly fled the scene of a fiery accident early Friday morning that knocked out power to homes on Lafayette Street has been identified. Joseph McMahon, 23, of Salem, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. At 3:29 a.m., police and fire units responded to the area of 136 Lafayette St. after it was reported that a Toyota Camry had struck a utility pole "at a high rate of speed." The utility pole reportedly snapped and came to rest on the hood with the "transformer hanging by the rear of the vehicle," according to police. Though police reportedly searched the area around the scene of the accident for the driver, they were unable to locate anyone…

Local Man Allegedly Wields Knife, Damages Cruiser

A local man was ordered held at a drug treatment facility after allegedly smashing out the rear window of a truck and damaging a police cruiser.

A local man accused of threatening two people with a knife, smashing the rear window of a truck and damaging a Marblehead police cruiser Saturday afternoon was ordered held until his next hearing on March 26. Luke Thibodeau, 24, of 30 South St., Marblehead, pleaded innocent Monday in Lynn District Court to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife), threatening to commit a crime, assault, disorderly conduct and three counts of malicious destruction of property valued above $250. According to a report filed by officer Eric Osattin, at 4:30 p.m., police responded to 30 South St. after it was reported that Thibodeau had thrown a wooden plank through the rear window of a truck. Rash of Car Breaks Prompts Police Warning

The Marblehead Police Department is reminding local residents to lock their car doors at night.

A recent increase in vehicle break-ins has prompted the Marblehead Police Department to remind local residents to lock their car doors and bring any valuables or electronic devices inside with them.  The department is currently investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred in the area of Waterside Cemetery and on Green Street over the long weekend, Police Chief Robert Picariello said Tuesday. Beach Bluff Liquors Armed Robbery (VIDEO)

The Marblehead Police Department released photos and a video from last night's armed robbery at Beach Bluff Liquors.

The Marblehead Police Department is still searching for a man who allegedly robbed Beach Bluff Liquors at knifepoint Thursday night. Attached to this post are photographs and a video of the suspect, taken by the Humphrey Street store's security cameras. There is also a shot of the suspect's vehicle. Shortly before 6 p.m., state and local police converged on the liquor store after it was reported that a man, in his late 20's, had just made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Police believe the man left the scene in a white sedan. If you have any information about the robbery, please contact the Marblehead Police Department.
