Marblehead Snow

You Tell Us, Glad It's Warm or Hoping For Snow?

You tell us, are you soaking in these spring-like temperatures or hoping to see snow in the forecast?

Let's face it - Marblehead hasn't been truly walloped with a snowstorm in quite some time. At least not one that left a significant amount of snow on the ground for more than a couple of days. On top of that, the National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect high temperatures to stay in the mid-40s for the rest of the week and the New England Patriots may end up playing their rematch with the Houston Texans in sunny, 50-degree weather. So, we have to ask: Have you been loving this break from typical New England winter weather or are you in serious need of snowfall? Let us know in the comments section below.

How Much Snow Will Marblehead Get on Saturday?

A second storm is headed to the area and could make driving hazardous on Saturday.

A second storm of the week is headed toward New England and will dump more snow onto the area on Saturday. A recently posted update on WCVB's weather website is predicting that more than a foot of snow will have fallen in locations across the North Shore by mid-morning Sunday. Meanwhile, 7News meteorologists and the National Weather Service are predicting Marblehead will get between 2 to 4 inches of snow in the storm that is expected to start on Saturday afternoon and spread into the early hours of Sunday. The good news is that snow removal shouldn’t be a backbreaking endeavour. CBSBoston’s Todd Gutner said the snow will be “dry and fluffy for most,” though he warned that driving could be hazardous at times on Saturday.

Winter Weather System on the Way

A storm that is forecasted to move across New England on Wednesday night through Thursday is unlikely to bring any snow to Marblehead.

Marblehead is expected to see only rain from a storm on Wednesday night and Thursday that could drop as much as a foot of snow to the north. Wednesday night's storm will be "loaded with moisture and energy as well as warm air" and keep it almost entirely rain in Danvers, writes WHDH-TV meteorlogist Jeremy Reiner in a blog post on Christmas Day. The precipitation will start between 8-10 p.m. and may be snow for a short time to start. Then it will change to rain and a total of 1-2 inches of rain will fall, with gusty winds too on Thursday morning and early afternoon. A more serious threat of accumulating snow is forecasted for Saturday night and Sunday. Right now, the National Weather service says only that there is a 40 percent chance of "…

Snow Expected to Start This Afternoon

Snow is expected to start this afternoon and stretch into Thursday morning.

After a mostly snowless winter, Marblehead may see up to 6 inches of the white stuff over the next 24 hours. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from noon today until 6 p.m. Thursday and are predicting somewhere between 3 and 6 inches of snow with a light coating of ice between this afternoon and Thursday morning. Snow is expected to start between 1 and 3 p.m. and become heavy at times by late afternoon. Snow will continue into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Poor visibility and slippery roads are expected for the Wednesday night and Thursday morning commutes - so try to plan ahead if you think you'll be out and about.

Snowfall Expected Overnight

Marblehead is expected to get between 1 and 2 inches of snow tonight.

Just one year ago, the news that Marblehead would be getting between one and two inches of snow overnight wouldn't be worth mentioning. But in a winter that has been unseasonably warm and almost snow-free, we felt it was worth the post. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect steady snow showers tonight, beginning around 6 p.m. The overnight low should be around 28 and total accumulation could approach two inches. The snow is expected to carry over into early tomorrow morning, which should be breezy and cold. Otherwise, tomorrow should be sunny with a high temperature around 34 degrees. Though this isn't exactly a blizzard, local weather experts are predicting that we may be in for some more snow on …

Snowtober Storm on the Way

The National Weather Service is warning local residents of high winds, power outages and slick driving conditions.

The National Weather Service is predicting that tonight's snowstorm may drop up to 2 inches of snow locally and high winds could down power lines across town. Although slushy and icy roads could hamper traffic in and out of Marblehead, the only watches in effect are for flooding and wind. Minor coastal flooding is expected to occur this evening and tonight. High tide arrives at 2 a.m. Sunday morning and a high wind watch will be in effect from Saturday evening through early Sunday morning. Marblehead Patch will be covering the storm as it happens.

I think there might be a touch more snow than that if we get what they're predicting. Yet again, I wish I was back in the good ole town. Just a few years ago I use to walk through a noreaster from one side of town to the other. I never felt so warm or so good about being alive. Get out there and enjoy the snow ... when it arrives of course. ;-)   more ›

VIDEO: Season's First Snowfall

It's not even Halloween and the snow is already falling in Marblehead.

This video, captured on Washington Street, shows a steady snowfall in Marblehead Thursday night.

Snow in October? [POLL]

The National Weather Service is predicting that Marblehead residents can expect snow flurries overnight tonight.

It looks like the first snow of the season may arrive before Halloween, thanks to some unseasonably chilly overnight temperatures. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect a steady rain to switch over to snow sometime between midnight tonight and 2 a.m. tomorrow morning. Tonight's low temperature should be around 32 and the service is predicting a new snow accumulation of less than half-an-inch. Although Friday should be sunny, with a high near 46, the service is predicting that local residents will likely wake up to patchy frost Saturday morning.  How do you feel about seeing snow in the forecast this early in the year? Let us know by answering our poll question below.
