Via MHTV: Watch The 'State of the Town' Breakfast

MHTV recorded this year's "State of the Town," with addresses by Town Administrator Jeff Chelgren and State Rep. Lori Ehrlich, among others.

Did you miss this year's "State of the Town" breakfast? No worries, MHTV has you covered. This is the featured video of the month on the cable access channel's Website. The breakfast, sponsored by the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce, was held March 20 at The Landing. Perhaps the keynote is the address by Town Administrator Jeff Chelgren, in which he says the town's finances are "solid." But Chelgren isn't the only local leader to address the crowd in the attached video. Casey Leaving Marblehead Chamber to Direct Regional Tourism Bureau

Chamber director taking position at North of Boston tourism bureau next month. Casey says she'll always carry a piece of Marblehead with her.

Ann Marie Casey is moving on from Marblehead and all the way up to Salisbury to oversee marketing efforts in all 34 cities and towns in Essex County. Casey, who has spent nearly six years as the executive director of the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce, is taking a position as executive director of the North of Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau. Her new job starts in March, although in a way, it's a return home. Casey was the executive director of Beverly Main Streets before coming to Marblehead in 2007, but prior to that she worked as a membership manager for the NBCVB. The NBCVB is a private, nonprofit entity whose main task is for Essex County to grow as a travel destination. The membership-based organization was actually established …

Local Businesses Ready for 'Summer of Sandler'

Local business owners are gearing up for the arrival of the cast and crew of Grown Ups 2.

Local residents aren't the only ones looking forward to having the Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups 2 filmed in town this summer - the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce is busy preparing goodie bags for the cast and crew. Executive Director Ann Marie Casey said the goodie bags are just a part of the Chamber's effort to welcome the hundreds of crew members expected to arrive in Marblehead this summer with open arms. "We want them to feel at home here right off the bat," Casey said. "We want to get them familiarized with the businesses here in town as quickly as possible and this is a great way to do that." Casey said she expects some 50 member businesses to contribute materials for the bags, which will be handed out to crew members when they eat …

Would You Support Shop Local Signs? (POLL)

Would you support hanging these signs around town? The idea was endorsed by the Board of Selectmen Wednesday night.

A Marblehead Chamber of Commerce representative appeared before the Board of Selectmen Wednesday night to ask for guidance in forwarding the organization's mission to post "Keep it Local, Shop Marblehead" signs around town. Prior to his presentation, Gene Arnold, a member of the chamber's Board of Directors, presented the Selectmen with "Keep it Local" pins and said he was on-hand simply to be "pointed in the right direction." "There are those that think that Marblehead is inundated with tourists in the summertime and that just aint so," Arnold said, stressing that return business from local residents is the lifeblood of the local business community. "We're looking to place several of these signs on existing sign posts around town so that …

Octoberfest at the Corinthian Yacht Club

The annual event raised money for the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce and Marblehead Youth Baseball.

Auctioneer Hooper Goodwin bounced around the dining room chanting bids, the smell of comfort food, haute cuisine and fine wine mingled in the air and Too Human played soothing jazz and dance music Friday at the Corinthian Yacht Club. It was all part of the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce’s annual Octoberfest fundraiser. Earrings glinted and shoes shined as well-dressed ladies and gentlemen sipped wine and socialized. The gathering also included families, with grandparents and grandchilden joining in. The local Chamber of Commerce partnered with Marblehead Youth Baseball for the event.
