A Look Back at The Blizzard of 2013 in Marblehead

The Blizzard of 2013 may not have caused widespread power outages but it produced high winds, high waves and giant snow drifts in Marblehead.

Between Friday evening and late Saturday morning, The Blizzard of 2013 dumped nearly two feet of snow on Marblehead and sent huge waves slamming into the local shoreline. Despite the 20 inches of snow and wind gusts as high as 50 mph, there were very few reported power outages in town and many local businesses were able to open to customers early Sunday morning. There were few reported weather-related car accidents in Marblehead. Gov. Deval Patrick a statewide driving ban beginning at 4 p.m. Friday, which prompted quite the discussion among our readers. Didn't see or hear a single plow from Saturday morning thru Sunday. As of leaving for work this morning our street is still a mess. All the neighbors were asking "what happened to the plows?" Cars and private plows getting stuck. Only one car can go up or down the street at a time. Not a great job. Maybe they are out of practice.   more ›
