These new restaurants have been open long enough - it's time to let us know what you think of them.

Over the last six months, Marblehead residents have seen a major shake-up to the local food scene as six different restaurants have either opened or reopened in town. The dust has settled, local customers have had ample time to try them out and now we have to ask - what are your thoughts? Were you pleasantly surprised by any of these restaurants? Were you disappointed? Is there a kind of restaurant you think Marblehead is missing? Let us know in the comments section below. --- Yannalfo's Ristorante: Yannalfo's Ristorante opened in the former home of Pellino's Ristorante, located at 261 Washington St., in early September. The owner, Brett Yannalfo, 43, of Andover, said he has always dreamed of opening a restaurant of his own. Casa Corona: …

Yannalfo's has delicious Italian food and desserts, and very pleasant and attentive wait staff. Definitely a local 'gem.' Joey D's is also very good. The best pizza in town, in my opinion, and they have a wide variety of good food that is inexpensive and served in ample portions. Casa Corona is good too. Not quite as good as Cielito Lindo in Beverly (http://www.cielitolindogrill.com/), but it's …   more ›

Joey D's Italian Grill Opens Today

Here's a look inside Marblehead's newest restaurant.

Joey D's Italian Grill will open its doors to customers today, owner Joseph Costanzo said Monday afternoon. Though not much has changed to the interior of the restaurant since Hooked Seafood & Grill closed, Costanzo said customers can expect to see the nautical theme replaced with more traditional Italian decorations. At a meeting earlier this month, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved Costanzo's request for a liquor license - he said he expects to serve alcohol in the very near future. Marblehead's new Italian restaurant will open in the 30-seat space formerly occupied by Hooked, located at 115 Pleasant Street - directly across the street from Warwick Place and adjacent to The Rip Tide. The restaurant's hours of operation will be …

Joey D's Seeking Liquor License

The owner of Joey D's will appear at the Selectmen's meeting tonight.

The local man looking to open Joey D's in the space formerly occupied by Hooked Seafood & Grill will appear before the Board of Selectmen tonight to request a liquor license transfer. Prospective owner Joseph Costanzo, of Green Street, told board members last month that he recently sold Luciana's Restaurant and Pizza on Highland Avenue in Salem and is looking to open a business on Pleasant Street that will offer fresh-caught seafood, Italian fare and pizza. "I've been in the restaurant business for 30 plus years and I've owned my own restaurant since 1985," Costanzo said at the meeting, "so I have many, many years of experience under my belt." Although Costanzo didn't offer a guess at when Joey D's will be ready for customers, he did say …

Joey D's Opening on Pleasant Street

Wondering what's opening at the former home of Hooked Seafood and Grill?

Marblehead residents can expect a new restaurant offering pizza, Italian fare and seafood to open soon on Pleasant Street. According to a sign recently posted in the front window of the space formerly occupied by Hooked Seafood & Grill, Joey D's will be opening soon. It was announced at a Board of Selectmen's meeting last fall that Hooked would be closing its doors for the winter season. Then, in April, former owner Ben Rhodes notified board members that the restaurant wouldn't be reopening at all. Rhodes told the Selectmen that a number of factors contributed to the permanent closure of the restaurant, located at 145 Pleasant St., and that two local men were vying to purchase the space next to The Rip Tide. Also opening later this summer …
