The former interim business manager, Kevin Meagher, did not carry a gun in schools. The district's policy on weapons adheres to state law.
The school district's former business manager had a license to carry a gun but did not do so at school property. Kevin Meagher, 47, of Saugus resigned last week as the interim business manager for the Marblehead district after his arraignment on charges including operating under the influence (second offense) and being a licensee carrying a loaded weapon while intoxicated. Marblehead Superintendent Greg Maass said in an interview Friday that Meagher, like other school employees, was not allowed to carry a gun at school. "He never had a gun (at school)," the superintendent said. The Marblehead School District's policy on guns subscribes to a state statute, Chapter 269, Section 10. Since 2008, the number of people with a gun …

A news publication in New York is under scrutiny for publishing the names and addresses of gun owners. Less than two weeks after the tragic shooting in Newtown, Conn., the New York Journal News earlier this week published the names and addresses of local gun owners in three New York counties. A story titled, "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," highlights the names and addresses of residents who are licensed to own handguns. The Journal News got the data through Freedom of Information Law requests, according to The Huffington Post. The Journal News reportedly requested the information from New York's Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, though the publication was only able to …
