Feel like a glass of wine with your guacamole? How about a cold beer with those nachos? Casa Corona, an authentic Mexican restaurant that opened on Smith Street in August, was granted Marblehead's first ever carry-in alcoholic beverage license at Wednesday's meeting of the Board of Selectmen. Which means that beginning today, customers can bring a bottle of wine or a couple of beers along with them when they stop by for lunch or dinner. Although the town's four remaining carry-in alcoholic beverage licenses are valued at $400 a piece, board members opted to prorate Casa Corona's license - meaning the restaurant's owners paid only $33.33 for their new license Wednesday night. What You Need to Know Before Bringing in Alcohol: Are you excited…

The owners of Casa Corona on Smith Street are hoping to get the go-ahead for BYOB at the next meeting of the Board of Selectmen.
The owners of Casa Corona have been waiting since September to get their hands on a carry-in alcoholic beverage license that would allow patrons the option of bringing beer and wine along with them. At their last meeting at Abbot Hall, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the implementation of the local BYOB regulations that they've been hammering out over the last two months and paved the way for as many as five carry-in alcoholic beverage licenses in town. Now, owners Felix and Jose Bracamontes are preparing to attend a public hearing at the board's next meeting regarding their recently-filed license request and are hoping to get "the green light." A timeline for when the restaurant could begin allowing BYOB was hard to provide …

The town's Selectmen are expected to make a decision regarding BYOB regulations in Marblehead at their meeting Wednesday night.
Town Administrator Jeff Chelgren asked that the Board of Selectmen "do their homework" when it came to reviewing recently crafted BYOB regulations in the hopes of bringing the matter to a vote at their meeting Wednesday night. Board members have been working with Town Counsel Lisa Mead to put together local regulations ever since Marblehead's new Mexican restaurant, Casa Corona, filed a request last month for permission to allow their patrons the option of bringing along their own alcohol beverages. "We're hoping that with this homework, that we'll be ready to vote on this Wednesday," Chelgren said. If the regulations are approved, Casa Corona owners Felix and Jose Bracamontes will be called in to discuss their application at te board's …

These new restaurants have been open long enough - it's time to let us know what you think of them.
Over the last six months, Marblehead residents have seen a major shake-up to the local food scene as six different restaurants have either opened or reopened in town. The dust has settled, local customers have had ample time to try them out and now we have to ask - what are your thoughts? Were you pleasantly surprised by any of these restaurants? Were you disappointed? Is there a kind of restaurant you think Marblehead is missing? Let us know in the comments section below. --- Yannalfo's Ristorante: Yannalfo's Ristorante opened in the former home of Pellino's Ristorante, located at 261 Washington St., in early September. The owner, Brett Yannalfo, 43, of Andover, said he has always dreamed of opening a restaurant of his own. Casa Corona: …

Unable to secure a liquor license of their own, the owners of the recently-opened Casa Corona Restaurant are now looking for permission to have their customers bring alcohol in with them. A formal request for BYOB designation was read aloud at Wednesday night's meeting of the Board of Selectmen and members opted to refer the request to Marblehead's Town Counsel. "We refer to town counsel, for further review of the appropriate procedures and guidelines for BYOB," Chairwoman Jackie Belf-Becker said. The restaurant opened last month in the space next to Evan's New York Style Deli, which was formerly occupied by Trattoria Sablone. What do you think about a local restaurant offering BYOB? Would you be willing to bring your own bottle with you? …

Here's a sneak peek inside Marblehead's new Mexican restaurant on Smith Street.
Get ready Marblehead - Casa Corona will be opening Sunday on Smith Street. Co-owner Jose Bracamontes spent five years working as a chef at Mexico Lindo in Melrose and the pair of brothers said they expect Marblehead's lack of an authentic Mexican restaurant will mean big business. The restaurant will be opening in the space next to Evan's New York Style Deli, which was formerly occupied by Trattoria Sablone and will offer "everything you'd see on a typical authentic Mexican menu," Felix Bracamontes said. The recently-finalized menu has been posted in the restaurant's front window and the new awning was installed last week. Click through the photo gallery attached to this post for a sneak peek inside Marblehead's newest restaurant. --- Know…

Marblehead's newest Mexican restaurant will open later this spring on Smith Street.
Felix Bracamontes was hard at work inside the future home of Casa Corona Restaurant on Smith Street Wednesday afternoon, hoping to get everything ready for a June grand opening. Bracamontes will be opening Marblehead's new authentic Mexican restaurant with his brother, Jose Bracamontes, who spent five years working as a chef at Mexico Lindo in Melrose. The restaurant will be opening in the space next to Evan's New York Style Deli, which was formerly occupied by Trattoria Sablone, "sometime in the next two months," Bracamontes said. Local residents can expect to see an awning with the restaurant's name installed sometime this week, he said. Although he and his brother haven't finalized the menu, Bracamontes said customers can expect …
