The Seafood Shack Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Local flavor and camaraderie can be found at The Barnacle.

Every town has that one restaurant with a true sense of local flavor and camaraderie attached to it. In Marblehead, this restaurant is the seafood favorite called The Barnacle. True to its name, The Barnacle is attached to the great rocks of the Marblehead shoreline perched out of the scenic inlet near Fort Sewall. The décor and food offerings at The Barnacle are classic New England through and through. Consistency and quality are what The Barnacle are known for, and this is not a bad thing. From the inviting, Tuscan cave-like interior to the choice selection of local and not-so-local seafood, Jack Tar provides Marbleheaders with an upscale, delectable culinary hot spot. Jack Tar came under new ownership in 2008 and is now run by husband and wife team chef Scott Brankman and manager Emily Farnsworth-Brankman. Brankman incorporates more than 17 years of restaurant experience and was most recently executive chef and assistant manager at Cityside Bar & Grille in Cleveland Circle on the …

I've eaten here at least a half dozen times since I first learned about it and "the man who serves as a sailor" has truly impressed "the man who eats like a whale." ;) Great article, Greg. You've truly done this gem of a restaurant justice.   more ›
