Next Up For Magicians Football: Gloucester Fishermen

The teams meet on the gridiron at Piper Field, 7 p.m. Friday.

Marblehead varsity football's fifth opponent is big and plays a physical style of offense, says Marblehead Coach Jim Rudloff.

That opponent is the 3-1 Gloucester Fishermen. The teams square up at 7 Friday night on Piper Field.

The coach says Gloucester lines up in different unbalanced wing-T looks and pounds the ball.

"They use plenty of misdirection but pass very little, just to keep you honest," he said.

Defensively they crowd the box and play cover, he said.

"They like to blitz and challenge you to throw on them," the coach said.

The 4-0 Magicians will need to stay focused, match Gloucester's physicality and play sound technical defense, the coach says.
