Marblehead Boys Stay Perfect on the Season

Coach Brian Heenan's cross country team pushed its record to 6-0 on the season after defeating Swampscott Tuesday on the Big Blue's course.

The win was part of a boys' and girls' team sweep.

Marblehead's depth secured the win. Swampscott's Matt Mahoney won the race and along the way set a course record, running the 2.65-miles in 13 minutes and 22 seconds. But Magicians claimed the second through sixth spots.

Coach Heenan's top runners included AJ Ernst, Chris Rodts, Capt. Conrad Rousseau, Adam Linsky, Jared Kokinos, Nick Carr and Hillman Hollister.

The coach lauded his team's effort this year, training hard even as runners have battled injuries and sickness. Including those to the first and second runners.

Ultimately, the goal is to qualify for all-states, he said.

Last year, the team came in 8th at all-states.
