Magicians Football Looks For Team Effort Against Salem

The Magicians looks to go 3-0 on the season.

The high-scoring Marbehead Magicians (2-0) football team plays its third game of the season tonight at home against Salem.

Salem is coming off a loss in its first game of the year last week against Gloucester.

Marblehead Coach Jim Rudloff says the Witches have all their players returning for this game and he and his staff expect to see better line play from them, and better protection which should open up their passing attack.

"They really like to put the ball in #20 Rosario's hands, he is a shifty player with good speed," the coach said. "Austin Connolly does a great job running their offense and is very effective running their option attack."

As far as his own team goes, the coach said they had four good practices this week. They were up tempo. The coaches focused on getting more people involved on both offense and defense.

The coaches want to build depth and they need players to step up to make that happen.

"We would like to see some of our kids who did not win starting positions really start to push the #1s and earn themselves some quality reps in the games," he said. "That would help us out tremendously as a team."

Marblehead won their opening game 44-0 against Danvers, and their second game, 41-24, against Lynn Classical.
