Kevin Meagher, the former interim business manager, resigned after his arrest Jan. 21 for allegedly driving drunk and carrying a loaded .38. He was licensed to carry a gun. It is illegal to carry one while intoxicated.

Meagher, 47, of Saugus was hired as interim business manager for Marblehead schools before the start of the 2011 school year.

The superintendent said Meagher was good at his job and dedicated.

"He’s great — a really good employee," the superintendent said. "He was at work every day. More times than not he was the last perosn in the office, and he was likable."
