New Student Information System All Encompassing

The new system went live in July.

The school district's new student information system impacts every facet of school operations.

Called Aspen, the system went live in July, and is available to students, teachers, staff and parents to varying degrees, said the district's supervisor of technology, Ken Lord.

The technology supervisor told School Committee members at a recent meeting that teachers have been trained on Aspen and will receive ongoing training.

He urges parents to play with and get accustomed to the system.

It allows for teachers to administer assignments to students and give them feedback on their work, as well as provide links to lessons and sources of information.

Beyond providing a platform for assignments and communication, the system gives students and parents access to academic progress.

Electronic report cards will be rolled out this year for elementary school students.

Aspen also helps with administrative tasks including updating health records and tracking student eligibilty for athletics.
