New Member on Marblehead School Committee
A joint panel of school and town officials interivewed the candidates Wednesday.
Michael K. Murphy is the newest member of the Marblehead School Committee.
Two candidates, Murphy and Jonathan Lederman, interviewed in public with the School Committee and Selectmen on Wednesday.
The joint assembly of committee and board members appointed Murphy to the seat vacated by Dick Nohelty on Aug. 15, said School Committee Chairman Kathy Leonardson.
This was the second vacant committee seat filled in recent months.
In late July, William Ackerman was appointed to the School Committee for the remaining year in former member EuRim Chun’s term.
Five candidates sought that opening.
The School Committee meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Marblehead High school in the library.
Agenda items include introduction of administrative staff.
