Marblehead is North Shore's Most Educated Community
A look at the communities with the most educated residents shows Marblehead at the top in the region.
Marblehead is one of the state's most educated communities, according to data from the American Community Survey compiled by WCVB-TV.
The analysis looked at the percentage of residents in each Massachusetts community with a graduate degree or higher.
Marblehead ranked No. 31 in the state with 30.7 percent of the town's residents 25 and older with a graduate degree. It is the highest percentage in any of the communities on the North Shore. The next closest town is Swampscott with 26.9 percent.
Seconsett Island has the most educated population in the state, with 63.6 percent of its adult residents with a graduate degree or higher. Seconsett Island is a waterfront area of Mashpee on Cape Cod.
Other towns north of Boston on the list include Winchester at No. 12, Andover at No. 27, Swampscott at No. 36, Boxford at No. 43, Reading at No. 45, Newburyport at No. 47, Topsfield at No. 52 Nahant at No. 54, Melrose at No. 56, Burlington at No. 64 and Lynnfield at No. 75
