What's With All the Stolen Political Signs?

Wondering who is behind the theft of political signs in Marblehead? You're not the only one.

Every week we answer a question submitted by one of our readers as part of our You Ask...Patch Answers column.

In response to a police log post we published last week entitled "47 Political Signs Reported Stolen," a local resident emailed us in the hopes that we could shed some light on the recent uptick in stolen lawn signs in Marblehead.

They wrote: "Can you find out which political party's signs are going missing? Has anyone been caught in the act yet? I think people in town deserve to get more information on this, considering the election is just around the corner. Thanks!"

All in all, 47 political signs were reportedly stolen from homes on Clifton Avenue, Atlantic Avenue and locations across town that weekend.

Although he admitted that signs from both parties had gone missing that weekend, Police Chief Robert Picariello said the numbers showed that more had gone missing from homes with Democratic signs.

"It's leaning Democratic," he said last week. "We need the community to help us with this by calling us if they see anything."
