Tisei, Hudak Visit Marblehead Republican Picnic

State office candidates campaigned at the annual Marblehead Republican Town Committee picnic held at Stramski's Beach.

Marblehead Republicans holding their annual lobster picnic at Stramski's Beach on Saturday were joined by GOP candidates, including state Sen. Richard Tisei, the gubernatorial running mate to Republican Charlie Baker.

Tisei joined the rally late in the afternoon, explaining that he and Baker have been traveling all over the state, splitting events between them. Baker was campaigning in Framingham.

In a campaign stump speech to the gathering, Tisei said the reaction has been "terrific all around the state."

Of their opponent, Gov. Deval Patrick, Tisei said another term for Patrick would be a "disaster," and rallied the crowd to get involved in the campaign.

"Everybody knows if you close your eyes and picture what four more years of Deval Patrick will be like, people just can't do that," Tisei said.

"They know that we need the change, and Charlie and I are going to work very, very hard, and leave no stone unturned in any town, city, or region of the state, over the next 80 days," Tisei continued.

Amy Carnevale, chairwoman of the Marblehead Republican Town Committee, introduced speakers at the event, which asked for $5 donations for every lobster.

Other office-seeking Republicans at the event included Kate Kozitza, a candidate for the state representative seat currently held by Democrat Lori Ehrlich, and Bill Campbell, who is running for Secretary of State against Bill Galvin.

Kozitza said she has been canvassing door-to-door in the district, which includes Marblehead, Swampscott and part of Lynn.

Bill Hudak, who is challenging Congressman John Tierney (D-Salem), met with voters and spoke at the event.

Hudak chatted about how he decided to leave his job at a law firm to be on his own. "I could be making seven figures on Wall Street, but I'm not about that," Hudak said.

Carnevale said this year there is a lot of momentum being generated on the Republican side.

"The energy and enthusiasm we see here today is exciting," Carnevale said.
