Republican Tisei Earns Boston Globe Endorsement

Will the Boston Globe's endorsement of Republican Congressional candidate Richard Tisei have impact on the race?

Republican congressional candidate Richard Tisei has picked up the endorsement of the state's largest newspaper, The Boston Globe on Tuesday.

The Globe cited Congressman John Tierney's family legal issues combined with Tisei's politically moderate nature:

"Tierney’s family scandal — and his evasive handling of it — gives voters a reason to look elsewhere. Meanwhile, he has an appealing Republican challenger, a moderate who served with distinction as minority leader in the state Senate. This year, Sixth District voters should elect that challenger, Richard Tisei."

The Sixth Congressional District includes Hamilton and Wenham.

The editorial says that while Tisei is further to the right than the majority of voters on some issues -- citing his call to repeal the Affordable Care Act -- the newspaper says that he should be given a chance, with all that has happened with Tierney.

"But while Tierney can be proud of his role in expanding access to college loans and heightening scrutiny of contracts in Afghanistan, his accomplishments aren’t so impressive as to negate his liabilities."

What do you think? Do you agree with the Globe's assessment? Discuss in the comments below.

we have the best in Congressman Tierney, He shares my values and it is shocking that the Boston Glboe endorses a tea party anti health care extremist. We need people like Tierney in congress to help obama clean up the mess left by Geroge Bush. giving this important seat to a republican who has nothing to offer but negative ads, would be a big blow to the moderate, the middle class and actually the entire country

In a rare moment of journalistic integrity, the Globe's endorsement tosses aside the laughable campaign claims that ultra-moderate Richard Tisei is a tea party extremist while holding the incumbent accountable for his implausable claims of ignorance of his family's illegal activities. The Globe goes on to say "Tisei’s mix of libertarianism and fiscal conservatism makes an excellent blueprint for New England Republicans", perfectly in tune with the majority of voters of all "classes" across the 6th district, Massachusetts and the country.

First: Hold the President accountable along with Joe Biden and Panetta for our Sovereign soil, attacked in Libya. We let our own die in vain over there, where is the American Conscience and Outrage ? Forget the Politics, our administration committed crimes by not reacting. Where was Hillary Clinton ? In Kosovo we attacked remote areas, in Afghanistan we attacked remote areas. In the situation room our people watched our people die on our own sovereign soil, "Our Embassy" Does no one care ? Or are they too hung up on Halloween, The Hurricane, or Donald Trump ? C'mon are we not Americans. Are our men all wusses, they can't speak up ? Impeachment proceedings should start against Obama for his inaction, lack of response in granting permission when requested by the CIA to respond to the attack on our embassy which is considered an attack on the mainland United States. Our president is guilty of treason and should be tried as such. Glenn Doherty and Tyron Woods need not be forgotten ! Once re-elected, Obama will hand Israel over to Iran on a Silver Platter. There are a lot of military college graduates living right here in Hamilton. I never have seen such yellow cowardice,in the face of our fighting heroes who cannot speak up on this disgrace and dishonor this president has brought to our nation. The Patch has not even brought up this hot button issue by calling the death of our patriots, "Political" and blaming this deception upon a you-tube video, Really ?
