Health Director Candidates Submitted

The town's Health Director Search Committee has submitted their list of preferred candidates to the town's Board of Health for consideration.

After pouring over the 23 applications they received for the position of Marblehead's , Health Director Search Committee members have sent the Board of Health their list of preferred candidates.

Over the last two weeks, members have held interviews with an undisclosed number of candidates in executive session in an effort to shield them from having to alert their current employers to their desire to work for the town.

"I was very impressed with my committee members," former Board of Health chair Carl Goodman said Tuesday. "We had five divergent views and I think we did a thorough job considering we had 23 applications."

"Those names will become public when they confirm the interviews," Goodman said. "The board has to do the follow-up interviews...our job is done unless they choose not to hire from the pool that we’ve sent them."

The search committee was looking for a "strong leader and administrator to direct the Solid Waste Transfer Station and all public health activities across the community."

The new director will manage a staff of six full-time employees, including the public health nurse and sanitarian, heavy equipment operators and solid waste staff. The salary range is posted as being between $64,312 and $75,017.
