Sales Tax Reviewer Making the Rounds

The review will take place over the next month or however long it takes.

Here's a Marblehead police log entry announcing that a Revenue Department examiner will be at work in town over the next month:

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1:15 p.m., a walk-in to the police staiton reported that she will be in town for a month or however long it takes to conduct a sales tax review. "October 28, 2013, Dear Taxpayer: The Massachusetts Department of Revenue is conducting a  registration review in your area. As part of this review, the Revenue Examiner will ask to see your registrations for any applicable tax you may be required to file. These would include your ST-1, MT-1, CT3A or any other registration you should have as a result of the nature of your business. The examiner will then review your tax records at our offices and advise you of any potential problems with your tax account. The examiner is also there to help you with any state tax questions that you may have. In addition, if you are in need of information for the new Business Web File Program, we can also supply you with thte necessary documents to do so.
