The Salem Licensing Board handed down a stiff punishment Thursday to the owner of Murphy's Restaurant and Pub after police told board members that the bar had been repeatedly serving underage patrons.
The Derby Street bar was hit with a 10-day license suspension for serving alcohol to minors and over-serving customers, according to the Salem News.
The three allegations of serving underage patrons all involved women under 21, including one who was charged with drunken driving; one who was transported to the hospital; and a third who may have been sexually assaulted after drinking at the establishment, according to the Salem News story.
The suspension is scheduled to begin sometime after Thanksgiving.
Do you think the serving of underage patrons is a problem at other Salem establishments? Have you seen underage patrons getting in the front door and served at other downtown bars?
