Local Historian Aiming for Gerry Stamp

A local historian will ask the Board of Selectmen for support in filing a request with the US Postal Service for a commemorative Elbridge Gerry postage stamp.

Local historian Don Doliber is scheduled to appear before the town's Board of Selectmen tonight to ask for their support in filing a request for an Elbridge Gerry postage stamp.

Doliber said he hopes the Selectmen will agree to join him in his effort to file a request with the US Postal Service to have the stamp produced in 2014, marking the 200th anniversary of Gerry's death.

"There has been a lot of focus on Elbridge Gerry recently and I thought this would be a great thing to do," Doliber said.
