Candidates Night Tonight at Marblehead High School

Event will offer residents a closer look at the candidates running in four contested races on this year's ballot.

Local residents are invited to attend The League of Women Voters' Candidates Night at tonight, an annual event aimed at introducing the candidates running in contested races on this year's ballot.

The night will begin at 7 p.m. in the school's library and will be moderated by former selectman Jeff Shribman.  The meeting will introduce the candidates running in four contested races for seats on the town's Board of Selectmen, Light Commission, Recreation and Parks Commission and School Committee.

The League of Women Voters will go contest by contest, asking candidates to offer  a two-minute introduction and then give one-minute answers to several prepared questions. Following the question-and-answer format, candidates will have the chance to give a one-minute closing statement. At the end of the program, those running in uncontested races will be introduced.
