ConsCom Considering Collection of Noyes' Gerry Island Fine

Conservation Commission members are preparing to collect a fine from Peter Noyes, following a judgment in the town's favor regarding the Gerry Island case.

The Marblehead Conservation Commission met in executive session Thursday night to discuss "options for collection of fines to Peter Noyes for activities on Gerry Island in the wake of a judgment in the town's favor in the case of Noyes vs. the Town of Marblehead.

Though they declined to comment on the case publicly, commission members sat down with Edward Moore, who owns Little Harbor Island, to discuss "strategy with respect to pending litigation" against him.

In the summer of 2011, Marblehead residents living along the shoreline watched on as Noyes drove a large four-wheel vehicle out to the island with a crane attached to move rocks, established a small herd of goats to feed on poison ivy and set up a camp site for his family.
