Board of Selectmen Thank Bill Woodfin II

Board of Selectmen members present departing Woodfin with a commemorative mirror in recognition of his 25 years spent serving Marblehead.

At their meeting Wednesday night, members of the town's Board of Selectmen took a moment to thank William L. Woodfin II for spending a quarter century serving Marblehead.

Woodfin, who has served on the Board of Selectman for 13 years and spent 25 years as a member of an assortment of other boards and commissions, said the greatest gift was being able to serve the town he loves.

As she presented him with a commemorative mirror, Judith R. Jacobi said Woodfin could look into the mirror and always know that he did a good job for the town of Marblehead.

"I really appreciate the gift, but for me the greatest gift has been being able to serve my home town," Woodfin said, adding, "I just love the town of Marblehead and I want  her to succeed.”

Woodfin is the only board member voluntarily stepping down this year. There are five available seats, each of which carries a one-year term. Candidates include four incumbents, Jacobi, Jackie Belf-Becker, James E. Nye and Thomas Michael Rockett; and three newcomers, Harry C. Christensen Jr., Rose Ann Wheeler McCarthy and Bret T. Murray.
