Swampscott Woman Charged With Hit and Run on Pedestrian in Swampscott

The suspect was ordered held without bail and will be arraigned Wednesday morning.

A Swampscott resident was charged with aggravated assault and battery with the intent to commit murder and other charges on Tuesday night.

Kimberly English, 49,  of  40 Hillside Ave. was ordered held without bail, and will be arraigned at Lynn District Court on Wednesday morning, said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy.

English, a Lynn public school teacher, was also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of personal injury, operating left of center, operating to endanger, a 209A violation, and speeding, police said. 

The victim suffered a severe ankle injury was at North Shore Medical Center overnight.

At approximately 7:30 pm on Wednesday, Swampscott Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit-and-run accident on Magnolia Road, police said. 

Upon arrival police learned the victim was struck while she was on the sidewalk and walking to her motor vehicle parked in front of her house.

The striking vehicle allegedly went around the victim's parked car to strike the victim, before the vehicle then fled down Magnolia Rd to Arbutus Street, police said. 

Police said they later learned the victim's male friend was in the process of being divorced and the soon to be ex-wife lived at 40 Hillside Ave. in Swampscott. 

Officers located the possible striking vehicle parked at the soon to be ex-wife's residence on Hillside Avenue and the vehicle had damage to the passenger side, police said. 

Following an interview by Swampscott detectives and Massachusetts State Police detectives at the Swampscott Police Department, and with the assistance from State Police crime scene services and accident reconstruction, the ex-wife was placed under arrest, police said.
