Stranger Knocks: Wants To Weigh Suitcases

The following information came from the Marblehead Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Oct. 3

  • 7:52 a.m., a walk-in report from a woman in fear of a person.
  • 9:26 a.m., a lost zippered black wallet. Person will check Minos when it opens.
  • 6:31 p.m., prank calls to locations in town, perhaps a result of a "spoof card" identifying the wrong place from which the calls originated.
  • 7:32 p.m., report of a package stolen from a Glendale Road porch.

Friday, Oct. 4
  • 10:07 a.m., a woman found tools and acessories in the street, Girdler Road.
  • 2:48 p.m., a Risley Road woman reported that a woman in her late 60s with suitcases knocked on her door and said she needed a scale to weigh the suitcase because she was going to Paris and bringing books, the caller said. The woman said she lived down the street but couldn't get in the house, the caller said. She then went across the street to another house and continued to Ocean Avenue, the caller said. Police spoke to the woman with the suitcases.
  • 3:29 p.m., a Pleasant Street man reported that he received threatening messages from his ex.
  • 6:11 p.m., a father reported that his son had been hit by a vehicle 45 minutes earlier near Redds Pond. The father said that the boy, who was on a bike, said he had gone over the hood of the vehicle. The father said no medical attention was needed. Police responded to the residence and the boy did not want to talk about it. The boy did not appear to be injured and the bike did not appear to be damaged.
  • 8:44 p.m., a large group of male teens were reportedly yelling and causing a disturbance at Locust Street and Phillips Street.
  • 10:40 p.m., a disturbance was reported on Washington Street. A man who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs was threatening to beat up an acquaintance.
