Marblehead Residents Arrested in Salem

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department’s log. It includes information on a Marblehead police officer being struck while working a traffic detail.

It also includes information on the arrests of two Marblehead residents. The arrests are separate incidents and neither are related to the officer being struck by a motorist.

Monday, Dec. 9:
  • At 3:25 p.m., a detail officer from Marblehead was struck by a motor vehicle near the intersection of Canal and Mill streets. A woman was later pulled over and will be summonsed to court on charges of failure to stop for police and impeded operation.
  • At 4:54 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Washington Street.

Vanessa K. Caruso, 21, of 23 State St., Marblehead, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, malicious destruction of property valued above $250, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, possessing a large knife and assault with a dangerous weapon.

James R. Thompson, 19, of 23 State St., Marblehead, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property valued above $250, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, possessing a large knife and for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
