Police Receive Multiple Reports of Phone Scams

The following are excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department: 

Tuesday June 24th: 

• At 10:04 a.m., police received a report of a phone scam from a resident on Pleasant Street. The caller stated they were from the Philippines and looking for money to be sent. 
• At 10:38 a.m., police responded to a 10 year old boy who was hit by a car on School Street. When they arrived, the boy was conscious, alert, and uninjured according to his father. The driver had left the scene after exchanging email addresses with the boy, and was charged with leaving the scene after personal injury and property damage. 
• At 1:43 p.m., police received a report of suspicious activity at a store on Washington Street. The caller reported that a man has been coming to the store and "looking around, picking things up", and then asked an employee to come see a product design in the trunk of his car. 
• At 6:07 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic driver in the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue.

• At 9:28 a.m., a caller reported that she was scammed out of her credit card information and social security number. 
• At 10:57 a.m., police responded to a fire alarm and smoke coming from a building on Barnard Hawkes Court. It was due to burned food on the stove. 
• At 11:10 a.m., police received a report of a stolen geranium from Conant Road. The plant was over 20 years old. 
• At 1:54 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash in the vicinity of Humphrey Street and Ralph Road. 
• At 3:59 p.m., police responded to a report of a dog on a roof on Cherry Street. 
• At 6:14 p.m., police received another report of a scam call from the IRS with some sexual content. 
• At 8:33 p.m., police investigated a report of suspicious activity on Camille Terrace. The caller reported a man who approached him and asked him to trap a cat that belonged to him. 
• At 9:30 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Pleasant Street. It appeared that the ground floor window had been entered through.
