No Injuries Reported in Taft Street Crash (Video)

Town departments converged on the scene of an accident in a residential neighborhood today.

It does not appear there were any injuries in a crash on Taft Street today about 12:30 p.m., according to the Marblehead Fire Department.

The accident took place at 13 and 15 Taft Street.

It appeared a silver Ford Explorer SUV struck a fire hydrant and hit the rear of a Honda Odyssey parked in a driveway. The silver Explorer came to rest in a yard next door, facing the corner of the house.

Water gushed from the hydrant, and firefighters diverted the flow to nearby drains to minimize flooding and freezing, said Marblehead Fire Capt. Michael Porter.

Water Department crews were on the scene about 15 minutes after the crash and shut off the water to the hydrant by closing a nearby gate, said Water and Sewer Superintendent Amy McHugh.

Marblehead police directed traffic and investigated the accident.

The vehicles were being towed from the scene.

A highway department truck loaded with sand stood by to treat the road.

Patch will report any additional information about the crash as it becomes available.
