Police: Alleged Vehicle Burglar Tells Witness 'I'm From Swampscott High'

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log: 

Thursday, May 29

  • At 9:17 a.m. a resident entered the police station to report losing a gold wedding band.
  • At 9:27 a.m., a resident entered the police station to report that her computer was hacked.
  • At 9:51 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint near the intersection of Watson and Elm streets.
  • At 9:58 a.m., a resident entered the police station with documentation regarding a recent restraining order.
  • At 10:03 a.m., a motorist called police to report that the traffic lights at the intersection of Pleasant and School streets weren't cycling properly.
  • At 10:28 a.m., police and fire units responded to a report of an injured cyclist near the intersection of Humphrey Street and Ralph Road.
  • At 11:44 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street.
  • At 12:01 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Washington Street.
  • At 12:12 p.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Lafayette Street.
  • At 12:58 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint near the intersection of Pleasant and Anderson streets.
  • At 2:43 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Prospect Street.
  • At 2:53 p.m., a Linden Street man called police to report that the police stole his dog and his mother. The man also told police he was "going to blow you up" and "I'm going to smoke you." The man was placed into protective custody and transported to Beverly Hospital.
  • At 4:03 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Elm Street and Story Terrace.
  • At 4:13 p.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Widger Road.
  • At 4:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man near the intersection of Village Street and West Shore Drive.
  • At 5:29 p.m., police responded to an alarm on High Street.
  • At 6:43 p.m., an Elm Street resident entered the police station to report an ongoing dispute with a neighbor.
  • At 9:43 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic motorist near the intersection of Pleasant Street and Ocean Avenue.
  • At 11:51 p.m., a West Shore Drive resident called police to report that she just witnessed a man break a car window. The woman said when the man was confronted by her boyfriend he said "I'm from Swampscott High, I just graduated" and then fled toward Lafayette Street. Alex G. Sverker, 19, of 32 Hillcrest Circle, Swampscott, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny under $250 and two counts of malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

Friday, May 30

  • At 1:15 a.m., an Ocean Avenue called police to report that someone just rang his gate bell and he could smell a strong odor of gas outside of his house.
  • At 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Pleasant Street.
