Marblehead Man Arrested on Drunk Driving Charge

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log: 

Monday, Feb. 17: 

• At 10:02 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Bridge Street.
• At 12:16 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Hathaway Road.
• At 12:54 p.m., a resident entered the police station to report a possible scammer.
• At 1:30 p.m., police conducted a building check on Sewall Street.
• At 4:26 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Anderson Street.
• At 6:15 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Clipper Way.
• At 8:16 p.m., a resident called police to report a sinkhole on School Street.
• At 11:54 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Village Street.

Tuesday, Feb. 18: 

• At 12:41 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle near the intersection of Elm Street and Story Terrace. Michael J. Smith, 77, of 7 Merritt St., Marblehead, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
• At 3:48 a.m., police responded to an alarm on West Shore Drive.
