Driver Crashes Into Fitness Center on Tioga Way

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log: 

Friday, Feb. 21

  • At 11:10 a.m., police and fire units responded to a minor motor vehicle accident near the intersection of West Shore Drive and Rainbow Road.
  • At 11:11 a.m., police and fire units responded to a reported carbon monoxide alarm on Cleveland Road.
  • At 11:47 a.m., police responded to a dispute on Powder House Court.
  • At 12:12 p.m., firefighters on Franklin Street called police to report that a bus was left idling near the station and they wanted it towed. The driver eventually returned and told police he had a bathroom emergency and was only gone for a few minutes. He was advised to park in a better spot next time.
  • At 1:27 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lincoln Avenue.
  • At 1:38 p.m., police called police to report a past credit card fraud.
  • At 2:46 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Conant Road.
  • At 3:39 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident on West Shore Drive.
  • At 9:33 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity near the intersection of Harbor Avenue and Nanepashemet Street.
  • At 10:08 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pleasant Street. A man was placed into protective custody.

Saturday, Feb. 22

  • At 12:11 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Summer Street.
  • At 12:41 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Village Street.
  • At 2:56 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on School Street.
  • At 7:06 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Pleasant Street.
  • At 7:19 a.m., police and fire units responded to a motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment near the intersection of Brookhouse Drive and Humphrey Street. One person was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital.
  • At 7:47 a.m., police responded to a report of a downed stop sign near the intersection of Creesy and Elm streets.
  • At 8:52 a.m., police and fire units responded to a motor vehicle accident on Tioga Way. A driver reportedly crashed into the fitness center and went through the window. 
  • At 8:54 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Pleasant Street.
  • At 9:22 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Bessom Street.
  • At 10:16 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Ocean Avenue.
  • At 1:45 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Doaks Lane.
  • At 4:49 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman slumped over on Atlantic Avenue. She was transported to the hospital.
  • At 5:32 p.m., a Brook Road resident called police to report that their daughter was choking. Soon after she returned to breathing as normal.
  • At 10:38 p.m., police responded to a report of a large group of kids in the road near the intersection of Leggs Hill Road and Agencia Terrace.

Sunday, Feb. 23

  • At 12:08 a.m., an Old Salem Road woman called police to report that her 12-year-old terrier wouldn't come inside and she wanted an officer to come whistle for her. The woman said she didn't know how to whistle and had already offered the dog its favorite treat.
  • At 2:13 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Pleasant Street.
  • At 2:38 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Village Street.
