Marblehead Man Arraigned on Assault Charges

The alleged assault was said to have been related to a threat issued three years earlier.

A Marblehead man charged with assault and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon was arraigned in Lynn District Court Tuesday.

Mark Forziati, 56, of 90 Harbor Ave., Marblehead, was released on his own recognizance on the condition that he have no contact with and stay greater than 100 yards away from the man he is charged with assaulting.

On Dec. 17, 2014, mid-afternoon, Forziati allegedly followed the victim out of the Marblehead Post Office and yelled at him, claiming he had threatened a member of Forziati's family three years earlier, according to the victim in a police report.

The victim said that Forziati pushed him, punched him and pulled his shirt over his head, the report states. The victim also alleged that Forziati kicked him in the head, the report states.

In an officer's interview with Forziati, on the afternoon of Dec. 17, he told police that he had confronted the victim over a verbal threat that was said to have taken place three years ago, the police report states.

Forziati went on to tell the officer that the man denied issuing the threat and aggressively bumped Forziati in the chest, the report states.

Forziati told police that he feared another attack so he slapped the man in the face and pulled his shirt over his head then slapped him again, the report states.

Forziati is due back in court March 20, for a pretrrial hearing.
