Man Blows Truck's Transmission Chasing Teens

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log:

Friday, Jan. 4:

• At 7:55 a.m., police responded to an accidental 911 call from a home on Humphrey Street.
• At 8:51 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Jefferson Street. Police later determined that the suspicious man was just a meter reader.
• At 9:15 a.m., a resident entered the police station to discuss an ongoing dispute he was having with his neighbor regarding yard waste.
• At 9:58 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Washington Street involving a Volvo XC90 and a box truck.
• At 10:07 a.m., police responded to a report of an elderly resident with influenza and dehydration. They were later taken to Salem Hospital.
• At 10:29 a.m., police received word that a truck had just dumped out a 50-pound bucket of nails at the intersection of Village and Vine streets.
• At 2:39 p.m., a Locust Street man called police to report that someone tried to break into his house overnight. The man said someone smashed a window with a hammer and the hammer was still on site.
• At 3:11 p.m., a woman entered the police station to report that Salem Bank told her to tell police she had become the victim of fraud.
• At 5:12 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Pleasant Street.
• At 5:18 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Bessom Street.
• At 9:21 p.m., a resident called police to report that two women walking near the intersection of Essex and Pleasant streets appeared to be drunk and she worried they may end up driving.
• At 11:45 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Village Street.

Saturday, Jan. 5:

• At 1:34 a.m., police received a call from the Salem Police Department regarding a loud bang and flashes in the area of Lafayette Street. Officers reportedly checked the area of West Shore Drive to no avail. Click Here for surveillance footage of the alleged explosion.
• At 11:52 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Atlantic Avenue.
• At 2:39 p.m., police received word that there were people skating on Redds Pond. The group was advised that the ice wasn't safe.
• At 2:43 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Sewall Street.
• At 3:06 p.m., police received word that there were kids on Ware Pond.
• At 6:20 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Farrell Court.

Chase Ends in Blown Transmission

• At 9:22 p.m., a Foss Terrace man called police to report that he just chased four teens out of his yard and down Pond Street to Peach Highlands, where he saw one of them go into a driveway. The man said he blew out the transmission to his truck while chasing them.

Sunday, Jan. 6:

• At 2:52 a.m., a Countryside Lane resident called police to report that his son just returned home and found a random car in the driveway and a light on inside the house.
• At 7:59 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Mohawk Road.
• At 8:28 a.m., police received a report of larceny on Franklin Street.
• At 9:06 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Chestnut Street.
• At 9:32 a.m., a resident called police to report losing their key ring.
• At 12:07 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Washington Street.
• At 12:56 p.m., police responded to a report of people skating at Redds Pond. The temperature was reportedly 41 degrees at the time.
• At 4:22 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Washington Street.

Monday, Jan. 7:

• At 4:31 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Village Street.
