A local woman arrested for her second drunken driving offense Friday night denied charges at her arraignment in court Monday morning.
Constance J. Nielson, 54, of 38 Birch St., Marblehead, pleaded not guilty Monday in Lynn District Court to a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense.
At 8:33 p.m., a resident reportedly called the police station to report that he had just seen a drunk woman walk out of Village Liquors, get into a Subaru Impreza and drive outbound on Pleasant Street.
Local police officers reportedly caught up with Nielson's vehicle a short distance later, near the intersection of Pleasant and Smith streets, and pulled her over for a marked lanes violation, according to court documents.
After reportedly failing a series of field sobriety tests, Nielson was placed under arrest. During the book process, she registered a .143 blood alcohol content, which is nearly twice the legal limit, according to court documents.
Judge Albert Conlon released Nielson on her own recognizance and ordered that she return to court on Nov. 15 for a pretrial hearing.
