Local police officers reportedly caught up with Nielson's vehicle a short distance later, near the intersection of Pleasant and Smith streets, and pulled her over for a marked lanes violation, according to court documents.

After reportedly failing a series of field sobriety tests, Nielson was placed under arrest. During the book process, she registered a .143 blood alcohol content, which is nearly twice the legal limit, according to court documents.
